We got up early today to go on our riverboat tour, ready to enjoy the exquisite scenery-and it was indeed very exquisite. But about half-way through the tour the boat overturned after everyone on board shifted their weight at the same time. We all ended up in the water and spent the rest of the time cold, soaking wet, and grumpy!
When we got back to the hotel, Zach and I practically raced to our room to get the first shower. After we got cleaned up, we went out to walk in the hotel gardens and saw a small group of people practicing Tai Chi. On a whim, we decided to join them and by the time we finished, we both felt completely relaxed and were able to laugh about our earlier dunking.
Later this evening we enjoyed ramen and chirashi at a village food stand and strolled around one of the Zen gardens. They really are so peaceful and pretty. I remembered that Cassandra and Don are still trying to decide where to get married and I am definitely going to suggest Takemizu Vilage!
Back at the hotel, we chatted with some other travelers who told us this story they had heard. According to local legend, there is a very wise old man who lives around here, but his home is hard to find unless you've been there before. I wonder how we can find him...?
