Issue 2: Sporty Sim

Raising Your Game

Looking for ways to enhance your game? Even top athletes know there is always room for improvement. Whether you're a superstar athlete or a rookie first-timer, take your game to the next level by making simple adjustments to your attitude and your training regimen. Here are the Sporty Sim editors' top picks for peak performance.

Start 'em Young
As soon as a Sim becomes a child, they can engage in sports. Children, teens, adults, and elders can play soccer, shoot hoops, and perfect their passing game. Don't be afraid to get youngsters involved in sports while they're young. Early athletic exposure helps Sims develop enthusiasm for sports and can lead to a future as a star athlete.

If at First You Don't Succeed...
There really is no substitute for just doing it. Get outside and toss the football around every chance you get, hit the court for some hoops practice, or get in the goal and defend against a striker Sim's shots. As you spend more time playing a sport, you'll polish your skills in it, going from a clumsy granny shot to a nothing-but-net three-pointer. Practice eventually can make perfect if you put in the time and effort.

Learn from the Master
If you're a striving athlete, why not find a more experienced Sim who can give you some pointers?

Take advantage of their knowledge and expertise! Keep your eyes peeled for friends and neighbors who have skills on and off the field-you might even make a few new friends!

Get the Goods
Surround yourself with memorabilia and fan merchandise to keep your head in the game even when you're just sitting around the house. Team jerseys, helmets, posters, and more can keep you fired up about the sports you love in those rare moments when you're not actually out playing them!

Challenge Others to Challenge Yourself

There's nothing that fires up an athlete's motivation quite like live competition. Take on another Sim in a penalty-kick style shootout, challenge a pal to a friendly game of basket-shooting, or put your friend's receiving skills to the test. Whatever field you choose to play on, prove you have the skills to dominate the competition!

Play Your Advantage
Some Sims have more active personalities and will have an easier time engaging in exercise and sports. Likewise, some Sims just seem to have a natural talent for athletics. If you're one of those lucky Sims, make sure you reap the benefits of both by pursuing hobbies and a career that utilize your strengths.

Ready to Score?
If you aspire to a romantic life, you can ace the dating game by learning to Smooth Talk your fellow Sims. This benefit makes other Sims more susceptible to your verbal advances by smoothing the flow of conversation. Go after what you value most to earn more Benefits and make the most of life!
