SimMaster of the Month: February 2006
Get to know the site moderators! The Sims 2 community is large and growing. We have some fabulous moderators on the site who help other simmers in need, keep things running smoothly, moderate the boards, and help enforce the rules that Maxis has set up. Our SimMasters are players just like you. Each month we'll be asking one of our SimMasters some questions so you can get to know them better. This month we talk to February's SimMaster of the month, the lovable and affable SimMasterMaaBear!
Hi SimMasterMaaBear. How long have you been a SimMaster?
In July, it will be 3 years since I joined the SM team. Has it really been that long? :)
What is your favorite part of the Sims 2?
The whole life cycle is amazing, watching a wee baby grow to adulthood and have their own children, then grandchildren. But my favorite part of the game is being able to interact more with the babies and having toddlers. Just like in real life, teaching a toddler to walk, talk or use the pottie can be frustrating, but such a joy when they reach their goal. My favorite expansion is Nightlife. It's like Hot Date (TS1) gone wild. LOL I love the clubs, restaurants and other hot spots to visit in the Downtown area.
What is your favorite thing about being a SimMaster?
I really enjoy being able to lend a helping hand, whether with the The Sims games or computer problems you can trouble-shoot via text messages. There were several patient folks out there when I first started playing that answered my questions and helped me get going with The Sims, as well as those who have taught me so much about these quirky machines we call computers. Being able to help others is, in a way, a way to pay them back for their help.
What is one thing you've learned from being a SimMaster?
Patience, I think, would be the biggest thing. Not making a snap judgement, taking time to read a post a second or third time to make sure what you thought it said is really what it does say. LOL Not taking what is said on the screen too personal. Fairness. Trying to not be overbearing (no pun intended) when exercising my role as a moderator.
You are still a very big part of The Sims 1 community and moderate on The Sims 1 site. What do you like the most about that community?
At first, I stayed at the TS1 BBS after getting TS2 mainly because I didn't know enough about TS2 to be of much help. Then I just kinda stayed there. In addition to new TS1 Simmers coming to the BBS regularly that need help getting their game up and running or are looking for new items to add, there are a lot of TS2 players that either can't get to the TS2 BBS or perfer the TS1 BBS. So it's a nice mix of both games. Just feels like home. :)
Any advice or tips for your fellow Simmers?
Enjoy your game. Don't get so wrapped up in having the most expensive house or the biggest bankroll that you lose the fun in playing. Personally, I've found it to be much more rewarding, more fun, when my Sims earn what they have. And never be afraid to ask for help if you get stuck or can't come up with any new and interresting ideas for your game. The members, as well as moderators, on both BBSs are more than happy to throw out ideas to help you rediscover the joys of "Simming". :)
Happy Simming!!
Maa
