SimMaster of the Month: July 2006
Get to know the site moderators! The Sims 2 community is large and growing. We have some fabulous moderators on the site who help other simmers in need, keep things running smoothly, moderate the boards, and help enforce the rules that Maxis has set up. Our SimMasters are players just like you. Each month we'll be asking one of our SimMasters some questions so you can get to know them better. This month we talk to July's SimMaster of the month, SimMasterBinky!
Hi, SimMasterBinky. How long have you been a SimMaster?
Since June 2003 - wow! Can't believe it's been that long. I first came to the Sims1 BBS in August 2000, I think.
What is your favorite part of the Sims 2?
There isn't just one thing. I love the generations aspect of it. Brandi Broke's great-grandchildren are leaving college in my game and have their own kids now and that just tickles me to no end. I also love watching the genetics play out. I don't use CAS that often, since I prefer to "breed" my existing sims. Once in a while I'll throw a "fresh" CAS made sim into the mix to see what happens though. Playing God is awesome *Mwuahahaha!* Finally I love all the little quirky surprises the game has hidden for us - from the social bunny to Death and his hula dancers.
What is your favorite thing about being a SimMaster?
These days I don't get to spend as much time online as I'd like, but when I was more active I loved helping people trouble shoot their games. It's a great feeling when you can help someone figure out why their game has been acting up, so that they can get back to playing.
What is one thing you've learned from being a SimMaster?
Searching for info to help others with their games has told me a lot about the inner workings of my own computer. Before I started playing the Sims, I knew absolutely nothing about the inner workings of a PC (I used to be a Mac-person) and now I can manage most computer problems successfully on my own and even upgrade my own hardware! Apart form all the techie stuff, the number one life lesson for a SimMaster (and every BBS'er) is probably "Never feed the trolls and they will all go away eventually."
How are the summers in Denmark?
Summer in Denmark is usually a rainy business, but right now it's warm and sunny! I really really need a laptop, so I can take my Simmies outside to play!
Any advice or tips for your fellow Simmers?
When your game starts to feel a bit old, try thinking out of the box and play in a way you haven't before. Take up a challenge of some sort, think about if there is anything in the game you've never done before (ever have had anyone eaten by the cow plant?), try playing under a theme (like a medieval hood or a fantasy one), tell a story or try to populate a new hood from just a handful of your own Sims.
Thanks for talking with us SimMasterBinky!
