Nova Scotia is Latin for "New Scotland". This Canadian province is a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic ocean & that accounts for the blue background of our official tartan. Green threads in our weave represent our land with natural resources for the economy such as mining, forestry and agriculture (together with fishing). These traditional industries have been joined by tourism, technology, film, music, and finance. Steeped in Scottish influence, Nova Scotia celebrates its Celtic heritage with many festivals. // For the "International Showcase", here's Kenna whose name is Scottish for "finely made". She's attending Highland Games events with her grandfather, Angus, and she wears a light wool A-line dress in the official Nova Scotia tartan. For added warmth on chilly or foggy days, Kenna has a vest that graduates in colour from the lush green of our land to the clear blue of our sky.
