What other time of the year could it be? Why Spring of course!

Nora Zombie lived a lonely life. She was unlike the rest of her family in that she never found love. She worked at her parents' bed and breakfast as a waitress. It was another Spring gone by without a man.
The morning rush had ended as most of the regular customers had left for work. It typically wasn't very busy this time of day.

Nora didn't know how they did it. Her mother Wanda, and her father, Norman, had been married for 40 years. They were two completely different people with two completely different personalities. Her mother, outgoing and funny, and her father, reserved and dignified.
They had met in Spring, and gotten married the very next spring. Nora and her sister had been conceived and born in Spring. Her parents just had a fettish with spring.

Nora rolled her eyes as her father blew a kiss to her mother. She felt like he was taunting her that he had raised a good family, and she had yet to even have a first date.

Norman was a good man, but very traditional.
"All I ask is that you settle down with a nice zombie man," he would always say. Nora loved her father, but he often got on her nerves.

While Nora was watching her parents, a man cleared his throat to try to get Nora's attention.
"Huh? Oh. Uh... Hi..? Sir, um, no, uh, what can I get for me, um I mean you."
The man was slightly entertained by her troubles with her words.
"Could I please have a coffee?"
"Um... ok."
|

Nora bit her tongue as she walked into the kitchen, but tried to pull herself together.
"Hi, um... here's your coffee."

The man yelped in pain. Nora had just spilled the coffee over his lap. Could this get any worse?

"Let me help you!" asked Nora.
"No, miss, it's fine. Don't worry about it. I think I'm just going to head off to work now."
|

Nora sat down after she blew it with a guy. Yet again.
"How was work?" Norman asked his daughter.
"Fine," replied Nora still a little upset.

There was an awkward silence. Nora knew what her father was about to say. Most likely one of his speeches on the importance of marrying and having many children with a zombie man.
Her father opened his mouth to speak when the door slammed.

Nora's sister, Sandra, walked in with her teenage son Ted.
Sandra was much like their mother; she could make friends with anyone, while Nora was like her father; quiet.
|

"Ah, here you are. Take a seat, take a seat," said Nora's dad.
"There are only four spots here, though," said Nora.
"Well don't you think you should pull one of the stools from over there?" replied Norman.
|

Nora was about to defend herself, but decided not to. He always did this. Nora knew that Sandra was Norman's favorite. It's been that way for as long as she could remember.
|

"Now Nora. I'm sure you've realized that you're getting old..."
"Not now, dad. Please," pleaded Nora.
"Why can't you be more like your sister?"
"Dad, she got pregnant when she was 16 and ran away from home."
"Yes, but she gives me grandchildren! And she is with many men! Many zombie men!"
Her father put emphasis on the zombie.
|

"Listen, what I'm trying to say is that... what man would want to be with you in your current state?"
The words dripped from his mouth like acid. Nora was used to it but finally just burst. She ran. Ran up to her room.
|

Sandra sighed.
"I'll go talk to her."
|
| |

"What? What did I say?"
|
| |

Sandra hugged her sister. They surprisingly got along much better than you would expect.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Ok," Sandra began. "I think it's finally time we shut dad up."
Nora beamed. She was glad to have somebody by her side.
|

For the past three years, Sandra had been coming and going from beauty school. She dragged Nora to her make-up station and gave her a whole new look.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora was thrilled about what she saw.
"Now about your wardrobe.." began Sandra.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora rumaged through her sister's dresser to see what she had. She finally did find something she liked.
"Now at least you don't look like an angry housewife," smiled Sandra.
|
| |

Without even so much as asking Nora, Sandra demanded that Nora come downtown with her. Just the two of them.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
They marched into the taxi, not knowing what was stored for their future.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The night started off good. The two sisters showed off their 'amazing' dance talents.
|
| |

"Here's to true love!" yelled Sandra. "Sandra, aren't you a romance sim?" "Good call little sis. Scratch that. Here's to a cheap woohoo or two!"
|
| |

After the drink, on the other hand, Nora just stayed at the bar.
Sandra seemed to be over almost every guy in the bar.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
As for when Nora met a guy...
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Let's just say they didn't turn out to be as nice as she would have hoped they were.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
But then she saw him. Again.
Nora ran to the bathroom to hide. After twenty minutes, he was still there.
Then realization hit Nora like a sack of bricks. Even Crumplebottom was getting some game!
"I have to just get over this fear.." Nora repeated to herself.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Hi..." The guy said. He was concentrated into her eyes.
"Um, uh, hi."
"Wait a second..." he started. "Aren't you that waitress?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora was embarassed. "Uh, yes.."
"You look a lot nicer," he smiled. "Ron's the name."
|
| |

And from there, the relationship took off. On the spot, he asked her on a date.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
She was surprised that he asked her out, but even more surprised that he was okay with rotten flesh. She never could quite figure out what was so bad about decaying skin.
|
| |

They danced for awhile.
"Oh Nora... your breath reaks of the foulest smelling odors imaginable."
"Oh Ron!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
It was the most romantic night possible. She even snagged a first kiss out of it.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Although Crumplebottom was on patrol that night.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
She didn't seem to appreciate our date.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
But the pair found an even nicer spot where they could express their love with no worries.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Unfortunately Crumplebottom found that more romantic spot.
"What do you have in that purse?? Bricks?" "You shut your mouth young lady! When I was a little girl back in the stone age, it was considered indecent for women to let men touch their elbows!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The two, annoyed by Crumplebottom's antics, decided to end their date.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
But that was not their only date. As the months passed, Nora found herself running around with Ron under her father's nose.
It was a forbidden love, you see. Zombie men were only acceptable in their family.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
She even got some alone time in her father's dining area during it's closed hours.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
And for the first time in her life, Nora experienced true love.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
That very night, Nora and Ron snuck into one of the bedrooms of the family home.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
And after having a little bit of fun, Nora watched as Ron bent down to one knee and pulled out a black box.
"Nora Zombie... Will you marry me?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora already put the ring on her finger when she realized she forgot to answer.
"Oh of course!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
When Nora broke the news to her father, he knew not what to do. He simply broke down in front of the window.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Wanda tried to console Norman, but it wasn't enough for him.
"Is he good man? I don't know. Is he coming from the good family? I don't know. But is he zombie? NO. And that's all that matters."
"Come here Normy." Wanda said as she hugged her husband.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The next day, Nora brought Ron over to meet the parents.
"So. Tell us about your parents." asked Norman sternly.
"Well you see, I don't really have any parents. I was made-"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"You HEAR that Wanda? Our daughter is marrying no good, CAS-"
Wanda kicked her husband under the table.
"OUCH! What did I do? What did I say?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora hid herself behind her hands. She couldn't believe this was happening.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Ron smiled and tried to assure Nora everything was alright. But she just kept her face burried in her palms.
|
| |

That night, the couple was coming home from a date.
"I just don't believe they acted like that! It's so embarassing."
Ron laughed softly. "Relax, Nora. I thought they were funny."
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
And there they were. The whole family there to surprise Nora.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The two shrieked. The last thing they expected was to find Nora's family there.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Wanda hugged Nora.
"Honey, we may not be thrilled that you're not marrying a zombie,"
Ron interrupted. "Um, I'm standing right here."
Wanda continued, "but we just want to show you that we respect whatever the choice you make."
Nora looked around the room at her smiling relatives. All but her father. He would respect her choices eventually.
|

Over the next few days, however, Norman began bringing home some strange... 'friends.'
"*gobble snorf ermf snorf gobble gobble snorf*" the noises the man made were borderline scary.
"*Urrrrp* are you going to eat that?" he asked as food spewed out of his mouth.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Nora looked down and weakly smiled. "No, help yourself."
|

The very next night, another man showed up.
"Zombie Komei likes your hair. Can zombie Komei touch?"
Nora was slightly annoyed. "Um... that wouldn't be such a good idea. I haven't... washed it in awhile?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Oh Zombie Komei don't mind. Zombie Komei likes."
Nora fake smiled. "Um, dad, can I see you for a second in the kitchen?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"You're trying to set me up with the sleezebags, aren't you?"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"All I ever wanting is for both daughters to settle down, marry and make me lots and lots of zombie grandbabies!"
"So this is what it's all about? For you to satisfy your desire for a huge family? I can't believe you, dad-"
"Enough! Family meeting! NOW!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The family members took their seet and the glass table.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Dad, I know you want zombie kids, but... I mean, Ted's dad isn't even a zombie! I think if Ron makes Nora happy, she should be able to be with him. Besides, most the guys I date aren't zombie."
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
A cloud of darkness went over Norman.
"All my kids running around wanting to be with non-zombie peoples."
He said non-zombie as if it were poison. "Next thing you know, Teddy wants to be with non-zombie girls!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Well, granddad, there actually is this one girl in my class..."
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Ok. I think it'd be fair if we let Nora speak."
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"Dad, I love Ron. You and mom got married in spring, and I feel like now it is my turn to get married in Spring. He may not be undead, but he still means a lot to me."
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
Norman looked to his lap, very troubled.
"So it is decided. Nora shall be married to this non-zo... man that she is loving!"
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
And so it was.
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
The whole family was there to witness the wedding. Even the paper girl.
Norman also invited his two friends over. You never know when a marriage can go wrong!
|
| |
Created: 04.28.2008 - Updated: 04.28.2008
"I do," both said at the same time.
Nora had finally found her Spring sweetheart. And she was as happy as could be.
|

And how is it a wedding/story without a picture of the poor attempts at smustling? And what makes it better is that it's zombies trying to smustle! :D
Happy Spring everybody!
