This is episode three, ?Stupid Kid? of the Harven High series. If you haven?t read the previous episodes, I highly recommend reading them before reading this, otherwise you may be confused. Title and concept for the episode are based on the song ?Stupid Kid? by Alkaline Trio.
Previously on Harven High:
Ryan entered school eagerly waiting for his date with Emily. To his surprise, a kid blocked the entrance to his locker. Things got rough and friendships crumbled fast. Brendan found himself at a brand new table sitting next to unfamiliar people. Jason still can?t let go of his forbidden love; only enjoying each tutoring session. The emotions were still strong for Emily, and she can?t accept her new situation. She continues to ponder her past and present, only making her date another downer. Finally she gets the inspiration she need and accepts her fate as the new girl at Harven.

?Beep! Beep! Beep!? Emily?s alarm clock blared, waking her up for another Monday morning. Emily slowly sat up, pushing the snooze button on her alarm clock before falling back into her warm bed, hiding her face from the sunshine. It had already been one week since she had started attendance her new school. Her room was still a complete mess with boxes and boxes piled all over her floor. She was too lazy to unpack them all. She continued to dose back to sleep, until she heard a loud bang on her door.

?Get up! We?re going to be late,? shouted her younger sister, Kylie. Kylie was a year younger than Emily and had completely different tastes for practically everything, right down to the brand of shampoo they used. ?Fine!? yelled Emily as she got out of bed. She quickly picked an outfit from her box of clothes and grabbed everything she needed for school.

?I didn?t even take a shower yet,? Emily moaned walking out of her room and into the clean hallway. ?Maybe the boys will like your stench,? Kylie smirked. Emily shook her head and grabbed her little sister by the hand. Emily felt like she was in elementary school once again. They both walked out the front door and into the gray streets. They only lived a couple blocks away from the high school, so they walked to school together every morning.

?You wanna race?? Kylie asked, ready to take on any challenge. Emily was already panting for air as the two of them speed walked their way down the narrow sidewalks, trying to avoid another tardy. ?Are you crazy? I can?t race you in these heels,? complained Emily. Emily immediately picked up her speed and ran past her sister. ?Well I take that as yes then,? Kylie shouted back. Without delay, Kylie darted ahead, leaving Emily in the dust. Kylie was much faster and more athletic than her sister. She did soccer when she was little and ran track throughout middle school and her freshmen year of high school. On the other hand, Emily did dance for several years, ranging from jazz to ballet. She wasn?t too into sports and getting dirty was not her thing.

At this point, Kylie was already several houses away from her sister. Kylie stopped at the nearest corner and waited for her sister to catch up. She pulled out her cell phone and looked at the clock. It was already 7:58 AM; she had 2 minutes before class would start. ?I guess we?re both going to be late,? Kylie thought to herself. She watched Emily finally arrived at the corner and both girls stood there waiting to catch their breath. ?Let?s just take a tardy and walk,? Emily panted. Kylie nodded her head and walked slowly alongside her sister. By the time the girls arrived to their classes they were several minutes late.

Emily walked into her art classroom to see several sour looks appear on her classmates? faces. Shanda looked absolutely disgusted at her; she had the face of a bulldog whose bone had been stolen. She continued walking towards her teacher, who surprisingly didn?t look upset at all. ?It?s OK, Emily? It?s just one of those days, right?? Ms. Graham asked Emily, not a trace of disappointment on her face. Emily smiled and walked towards Shanda and May holding up her completed poster. ?Wow!? awed May as her jaw dropped open. Shanda shook her head; she didn?t look amazed at all. ?Where the hell were you!?!? shouted Shanda angrily. "Um? I was late,? Emily said looking crestfallen. ?I?m just playing with ya girl. The poster is tight. We should get an A now, if the presentations go well,? said Shanda smiling at her own joke. ?You don?t have to be so mean to her,? defended May, not finding Shanda?s joke the least bit funny.

Emily smiled; she could feel the girls finally accepting her. At first glimpse she thought she would get pounded, but surprisingly everyone felt some sympathy for her. She glanced over at Ryan who was waving back at her. She smiled back at him, giving him her special wink. Everything around her slowly disappeared as she became fully intent to his face. She smiled once more; widening her eyes as Ryan?s shirt slowly came off. Suddenly she heard a loud noise come straight into her ear. ?Quit having eye sex!? Shanda shouted. Emily shook her head to clear it and then rubbed her yes as she snapped back into reality. ?Tell us the details about your date!? May demanded excitedly. Emily smiled and told the girls every little detail that happened. They smiled and giggled as they listened. Emily continued on and on until the bell rang to end class.

Brendan slowly walked out of his first period classroom and went straight to his locker, with the intent of getting his massive math book. He walked up to the familiar spot, where his friends often met up in between classes; only this time, his friends weren?t there. Jason was now standing next to his newly found friends and Ryan was standing next to Emily. Brendan shook his head as the pain inside creased. ?I guess this is how it?s going to be from now on,? he said to himself. Brendan still couldn?t accept the fact that his long term friendship had just ended. He was stunned to see the cause of their downfall was all because of a new girl. He didn?t know which side to take; Jason?s or Ryan?s. Suddenly a familiar voice interrupted his thoughts.

?Hey Brendan!? Ryan shouted at him. Brendan smiled and ran over to Ryan. ?So? what?s the deal? Why didn?t you guys sit with me at lunch?? Ryan asked looking Brendan straight in the eyes. Brendan twitched; he could obviously tell Ryan was serious. ?What do you mean? Don?t you know? You and Jason got into a fight and then he cussed you out,? Brendan explained as sweat formed on his brow. ?No? That never happened. Jason just randomly sat at a different lunch table all of the sudden,? defended Ryan. ?Jason lied then,? Brendan said slowly. ?Well are you going to sit with them? You don?t even know those kids!? Ryan shouted as the truth became quite clear. ?Um? I don?t know,? he replied back. Brendan felt paralyzed; he didn?t know who to turn to or who to talk to now. ?Well I?m sorry if I?m not so fit for your `alternative lifestyle.? I just wanna let you know that there will always be an open seat for you at the table,? Ryan replied truthfully.

?Maybe he?s jealous,? Emily suggested, butting into their conversation late. ?Of you? You didn?t even take a shower today,? mocked Kylie. Emily turned bright pink; she felt like slapping her sister. ?Oh that?s Kylie, Emily?s sister. You have Mr. Dyer next, right?? Ryan said introducing her. "Emily has a sister? Um, yeah, I have Mr. Dyer next, why?? Brendan said still shocked as his eyes suddenly widened and all the thoughts he had earlier disappeared. ?Yeah, I?m her sister. I got a schedule change today, so I?m gonna be in your class,? smiled Kylie. She felt a little excited, actually knowing someone that was going to be in her class. ?Great, you two can hook up now,? Ryan suggested. Emily quickly elbowed him in the shoulder. ?Come on, let?s go to class now Brendan,? Kylie said. Brendan followed along as they walked into their Algebra II class.

?Hi, Brendan!? May greeted him as he walked into the classroom. ?Shit! I forgot all about May,? Brendan said to himself as she smiled and waved at him. Kylie quickly separated from him and walked up to the math teacher to show him her revised schedule. ?Hey!? Brendan waved back. He walked up to his seat and sat down staring at the board. ?What am I thinking? I like May, she likes me. Now there?s Kylie! Ignore her, I just met her,? Brendan thought to himself. He pulled out a pencil out of his pocket and started writing down the notes on the board. After he copied down half of the notes, Kylie sat right next to him. ?Hey, this isn?t your seat,? Brendan teased. ?It is now. I have trouble seeing from far away, so I get to sit here,? Kylie answered. She took out her notebook and started copying down the notes as well.

?Do you have C lunch?? Kylie asked, placing her pencil down on her notebook. ?Yeah, why?? Brendan asked puzzled by her statement. He didn?t feel comfortable sitting next to her and didn?t like the sound of where she was taking the conversation. ?My lunch period got changed around too and there?s no way I?m sitting next to my sister, unless that?s where you sit too,? replied Kylie with a smile no boy could resist. ?Sure, I guess so. I hope you don?t mind sitting next to a bunch of guys,? answered Brendan. ?As long as they?re cute,? Kylie said, still smiling. She picked up her pencil and continued writing notes. The bell to start class quickly rang and Mr. Dyer started going over the notes.

Brendan shook his head as he stared up at the board; he knew this girl was not his type at all. He turned around and looked back at May, who didn?t look happy. Over to her left was Ben, the boy who sat at his lunch table. ?So that?s how he knows me,? Brendan said to himself. He turned back around and resumed staring at the board. After a few minutes, he felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned back around to see a folded piece of paper in his face. He grabbed the note out of the girl?s hand and quickly unfolded it under his desk, so that nobody would see him read it. The note read:
Brendan, who is that girl next to you? She keeps smiling at you. Anyways, I could probably give you that ride after school today. Now you won?t have to ride the bus. ^_^ Do you even get what we are learning?
Write back! May
Brendan quickly stuffed the note into his pocket. He didn?t feel like replying to the note; it was embarrassing enough just getting it.

The classes flew by until lunchtime finally arrived. Kylie followed Brendan into the noisy lunchroom. The both walked into the long lunch line where people took cuts in line, asked each other for money, or rambled on with meaningless conversations before receiving the same Grade D food as every other day. ?So what are you getting for lunch?? Kylie asked. "Salad?? Brendan answered slowly. ?What are you, a vegetarian? You?re the first boy I know that gets salad. Come on, let?s get greasy pizza, I heard it has an extra topping today,? Kylie said with much excitement. ?You?re crazy! You?re gonna choke on all that grease,? exclaimed Brendan. ?I hope you know CPR,? laughed Kylie. They both bought salads from the lunch line and walked over to the table.

Brendan felt a chill run up his spine. He walked to his table slowly, noticing the frown Ryan gave him as he passed by their table. Brendan felt guilty, almost frightened at what could happen if he sat down at Jason?s table. Not only would he lose Ryan?s trust, he was also bringing a girl to an all boy?s table. He bit his lip and proceeded to Jason?s table. Kylie stuck her tongue out at her sister and continued walking alongside Brendan. Finally they sat down and all the boy?s eyes widened as Kylie took a seat.

?Well, this is it,? Brendan said in a shaky voice. ?I can?t believe you convinced me to eat lettuce for lunch,? mocked Kylie. She took her fork and dug it straight into a pile of lettuce covered with Italian dressing. ?Who?s the chick?? Kenny shouted out. ?Chick? I don?t see any birds here. I?m Kylie, um? yeah,? she said sarcastically. The boys started snickering and whispering to each other silently. Kylie ignored them and continued on eating her salad.

?So you?re Emily?s sister?? Jason asked curiously. ?Yeah, I am. But who cares about her? She stuffs her bra,? bragged Kylie. The boys all smiled and laughed in unison; they were enjoying every minute of her presence. ?Who is she?? Trevor asked as he arrived at the table. ?That?s Emily?s hot sister,? Kenny replied. Kylie rolled her eyes at the statement; she was sick of hearing about her sister. ?Knock it off, Kenny!? Trevor scolded him. ?Out of all the tables out there, why are you sitting here?? questioned Jason. ?They changed my schedule; besides, I think I like it here,? Kylie answered gracefully. ?Ding! Ding! We have a winner!? Kenny shouted out.

Kylie rolled her eyes and stared at Ben who was pretty much silent for duration of the lunch period. ?Why are you so quiet little guy?? Kylie asked as she smiled at Ben. Ben immediately started blushing then turned away from the table. ?He?s in our math class you know,? Brendan responded to break the awkward silence. ?Yeah, I noticed. So how come you?re quiet?? She asked once again. ?I don?t know?? he muttered. Kylie stopped talking; she could feel his body radiating with shyness. She didn?t want to force him to talk. She continued eating her salad, engaging and picking up personality traits of each boy. ?So? Ben?s a shy little cute sophomore, Kenny is an immature little freshmen, Jason was the one who lied to Emily?s boyfriend, Trevor is like the leader of the gang and is a junior who can drive and I?m the only girl at this table,? she said to herself as she finally ate the last piece of lettuce on her plate.

Within minutes, the lunch period ended and everyone threw their food away and headed to their final class of the day. Brendan followed Jason on their way to English class. ?Dude! How did you manage to get her to sit at our table?? Jason asked as Brendan slowly tagged behind. ?She asked to sit at the table. I think she is desperate for friends,? replied Brendan. ?She?s definitely something,? sighed Jason. ?Hey, Ryan said you never cussed him out. He said that you just abandoned him all of the sudden,? Brendan suddenly questioned him. He was tired of waiting for the truth to be thrown at him. His heart quickly pounded as he feared the response. ?Look, I know and you know?? Jason said as he struggled to explain himself. ?Know what?? Brendan quickly demanded.

?He?s a jerk, face it! We don?t need friends like that. All he does is talk about himself, then he makes fun of others. He?s changed! Then when we talk about something not involving him, he makes an excuse like he?s going to be late for class,? Jason confessed. Brendan stood in silence as the truth was finally spoken. Every word that Jason said was true and there was no way Brendan could deny it. Their friendship was officially over; it was now time for the two of them to make new friends. Brendan shook his head, ?So maybe it?s true, but you?re going to stop talking to him because of these recent events?? Brendan stared closely at the worn out tiles in floor. ?That?s me? I?m these tiles. I?m so worn out and walked all over. It?s time I stand up for myself. I can?t be all shy and act like Ben,? Brendan said to himself as he put his own self down.

?I made out with Ms. Beverly!? Jason confessed. ?What!?!? exclaimed Brendan as his face turned pale. ?Shhhh, not so loud. Shut up! Shut up! Why did I even tell you? Shit! Just forget what I even said,? Jason blurted loudly. ?Bleh! How gullible do you think I am?? asked Brendan. ?Very,? said Jason as he started laughing. ?Well it was very believable until you freaked out like a little girl,? Brendan said. ?I better get to class before I?m late,? Jason said, mocking Ryan. He ran down the hallways and stormed right into Ms. Beverly?s classroom. Brendan slowly followed after; he didn?t know what to believe now. Jason?s sudden playfulness or what was really spoken earlier.

As the bell rung to start class, Brendan slowly took his seat. Shortly after, Ms. Beverly took attendance with her eyes glancing all around the room, particularly at Jason. ?I?m moving seats around. Sam, will you please permanently trade seats with Ryan? And Allison, will you please switch with Tom?? Ms. Beverly requested. Ryan got out of his seat and glared directly at Jason, who was sitting next to him. He stood up and walked towards the other side of the classroom, a row behind Brendan. He moved into the aisle way and took his seat. Ryan quickly frowned as he saw who he was sitting next to; it was the boy that he pushed into the lockers Friday morning. ?Hi, is your name John?? Ryan asked politely. The boy quickly turned his head and faced Ms. Beverly?s direction. ?Great! I ask not to sit next to Jason and I end up in an even worse seat,? Ryan muttered angrily.

?Hey, you?re riding home with me, right?? May asked Brendan, who was staring off into space. ?Of course, there?s no way I?m riding the bus,? smiled Brendan. ?Hey, how come you didn?t write back in math class? You acted like you?ve never gotten a note before,? May said softly. ?I didn?t know what to write back,? Brendan answered quickly. ?You don?t have to be so embarrassed about it,? May said, noticing something was troubling him. ?I?m not,? he hastily replied. Brendan grabbed the novel they were reading in class and buried his nose in it. ?Sometimes, I?d like to know what goes on in that boy?s head,? May thought to herself. She picked up her book and began reading as well. For the majority of the period, May would dose off while reading the novel; she pictured herself in an elegant homecoming dress dancing the night away with Brendan at her side. May sighed and continued reading the novel until the bell to end class rang.

Brendan gathered up his things and held them tightly in his hands as he waited for May to do the same. Once they both had their school work in their hands, they walked out of the classroom and into the busy hallway. ?Why don?t we meet up outside, by that apple statue thing?? Brendan suggested. ?OK, that sounds good,? agreed May. They both went their separate ways as they headed towards their lockers. Brendan sighed as he turned the dial on his locker combination. He wasn?t exactly thrilled to be riding home with May; after hearing from Shanda about May?s strict parents he didn?t know what to expect. Finally, he pushed up the handle and grabbed everything that he needed to take home.

He slowly walked out the front doors and stood near the apple statue. He walked around for several minutes until May finally arrived at the same location. ?There?s my mom?s car,? May responded as she walked down the flight of stairs. Brendan followed behind her as they walked down the steps until they finally reached the sidewalk. May?s mother quickly pulled over alongside the curb and the sound of the doors unlocking followed.

May opened the front passenger door and stepped into the cool air conditioned vehicle. Brendan opened the door and sat in the seat right behind her. May?s mother immediately made shifty eyes as Brendan buckled up his seat. ?Hi, I?m May?s mom,? she said politely. She looked into her rear view mirror and stared at his studded belt and his long messy hair which she clearly disapproved of. Based on his appearance, she already didn?t like him. ?Hi, I?m Brendan,? he replied politely.

May?s mother slowly drove off the school campus and onto the main road. She turned the dial of the volume control and music immediately started playing:
?I'm looking for attention, Not another question Should you stay or should you go Well, if you don't have the answer Why you still standing here Hey, hey, hey, hey Just walk away?
Brendan quickly rolled his eyes and stared out the car window. He couldn?t stand Kelly Clarkston or anything else in that genre of music. ?So how was school, May?? Her mother asked, breaking the silence of the music and the sounds of the wheels moving on the concrete streets. ?It was OK, I guess,? answered May. ?So are you her classmate, Brandon?? May?s mother asked. ?It?s Brendan, mom, not Brandon,? May corrected. ?It?s alright, that happens a lot. Yeah, I?m in her Algebra two class and English class,? Brendan replied.

?Oh, okay. So you live on our block, huh? May should start riding the bus, the cost of gas keeps going up,? May?s mother suggested. ?Mom?? May complained. Brendan shook his head; he had no idea what Shanda was talking bout May?s parents being strict. He thought her mother was nice and somewhat typical. ?Well we are on Sandton Street now, where do you live?? her mother asked as she drove down the street. ?Keep going? keep going? okay, it?s that house,? Brendan said as she finally reached his house.

May?s mother pulled straight into his drive way and then pressed the button to unlock the doors. ?Bye,? she said as she waved to him. Brendan smiled and waved straight back at her and entered his house. May watched as he went into his house and closed his door. May?s mood quickly dropped the second Brendan entered his home. She could no longer take the nice person act her mother was putting on. Her mother drove straight home then turned the key counter clockwise, shutting off the car ignition.

?I don?t really like that boy,? her mother immediately said as she opened the car door. ?Why not?? May asked. She knew her mother?s nice person act was now over. ?He was very quiet, he?s kind of a punk and you don?t need to associate with boys anyway, May,? her mother responded firmly having no clue what a punk really was. ?What! You barely even know him, mom,? May defended as she stepped out of the car and slammed her door. ?It doesn?t matter anyway, I?m not letting you date any boys. Now, when we get inside the house, I want you to immediately start your homework and help me with dinner,? May?s mother responded. ?Okay,? May shouted sarcastically. She begun grunting and stomping as her mother turned around to open the front door. May and her mother walked into the house, and then May immediately ran straight to her room.

?It?s not fair, it?s not fair at all?? May said to herself as she sulked into her warm bed. This was the kind of reaction May expected from her mother. Her mother grew up in the Philippines, where her parents were very strict. Her mother wasn?t allowed to date until her senior year of high school, but even then, her dates had to be chaperoned by her aunts or parents who watched her every move. She thought it was unfair, since her mother no longer lived in the Philippines. Even then, the times have changed and parents are no longer as strict as they used to be. May let out a long sigh and took out her math homework and began working on it.

After she was finished, she went into the kitchen where her mother was preparing dinner. Her little sister was standing around the kitchen playing her Nintendo DS. May?s little sister, Takara, stuck her tongue out at May as she walked up towards her mother. ?What?s for dinner tonight,? May asked tiredly. ?Spaghetti? Now what you can do is boil the noodles, while I stir up the sauce and make the sausages,? her mother said assigning her work. ?Eww? I hate Filipino styled Spaghetti,? May complained to herself. She didn?t like its sweet taste and the sausages her mother added. On some occasions, her mother added hotdog slices to the sauce. May smiled as she heard the front door knob turn. ?Dad!? May shouted, running to the front door to greet him. Her father was Japanese; he met her mother at a college in the Philippines. After they gotten their degrees, they both immigrated to the United States to start their careers and settle down with a family.

?What?s the sudden rush?? he asked May curiously. ?Daddy, when can I date?? May asked, sounding like a little girl. ?Now, I guess,? he responded, caught off guard by the situation. ?No, she cannot!? her mother interjected. ?What?s going on?? he asked. ?I gave a boy from her school a ride home and now all of the sudden she wants to date him. I don?t think the boy is quite suited for her,? her Mother responded. ?You don?t even know him!? May shouted back. She felt like slapping her mother in the face at this point. ?I?ll tell you what, you bring this boy home for dinner and we will be the judge of that,? her father responded firmly. ?Thank you!? exclaimed May. She jumped into air and ran back into the kitchen to help her mother cook.

?Overall, I think MC Escher was one of the most influential artists of our time,? Shanda said finishing up their presentation. It was already Tuesday morning, first period and their presentations were all done and taken care of. The class clapped their hands and then girls immediately took their seats with smiles of A?s on their art project. ?I think we got like over a 100,? Emily said as she ran her fingers through her hair. ?I underestimated you girl. I?m real sorry about the way I treated you earlier,? Shanda apologized. Emily smiled as she got the long awaited apology.

?Is Kylie your sister?? May asked. ?Yeah, she?s my annoying younger sister,? sighed Emily. ?She?s in my math class. She came walking in like she was some kind model or something,? May responded. ?Don?t listen to what she says about me. They are all lies,? replied Emily. ?Oh my god, my parents want me to invite Brendan over for dinner tonight!? May exclaimed, changing the subject. ?Are you serious?! They are actually going to do that?? Shanda shouted. ?Shanda! There are presentations going on right now, please see me after class young lady,? Ms. Graham said, interrupting both the presentations and their conversation. Shanda quietly slammed her arms straight into the desk. She was afraid of what Ms. Graham would do to her, and at the worse even deduct points from her project grade.

Finally class ended and Shanda nervously walked up to Ms. Graham. She was afraid of what punishment she would receive from her outburst. ?Thanks for staying after,? Ms. Graham greeted her. ?Am I in trouble?? Shanda asked, shaking. ?No, you?re not, I just wanted to talk to you about the sudden outbursts that you are having in my class,? Ms. Graham explained to her. ?What do you mean?? she asked innocently. ?Shanda, listen to me, you are a great student in all your academics, but your behavior is bringing you down. You already have scholarships and so many things going for you in your art. However, these schools are not just going to allow anyone to enter. You need to behave accordingly and show yourself as a model student. Do you understand what I?m saying?? lectured Ms. Graham. ?Yes,? Shanda said lazily. ?Please Shanda, listen to me. You need to behave yourself,? Ms. Graham responded. Shanda nodded and walked out of class; she couldn?t believe that her teacher said that about her.

Brendan walked into his second period math class, and then took his seat and began copying the notes from the board. ?Hey,? Kylie shouted as she walked into the classroom. The students quickly stared at her as she walked in. She took her seat and pulled several colored pens out of her pocket. ?Whoa what?s with all the pens?? Brendan questioned her. ?I?m gonna write notes all hour. I already know this stuff anyways. My old school was two chapters ahead of you guys,? Kylie said as she pulled out loose leaf paper out of a folder. Shortly after, Mr. Dyer greeted the class and began explaining the notes on the board. Brendan listened along and continued to write the notes down. Halfway through class, Brendan once again was tapped on his shoulder and another note was shoved into his face.

Brendan unfolded the note and read the following:
Brendan, you have to come over today and stay for dinner! You have to! Who knows, if things go well we can start dating. LOL That sounded so middle school-ish. Write back this time!!!
<3 May
Brendan smiled and shoved the note into his pocket. He didn?t like the idea of getting notes, nor did he like the thought of writing back. He closed his eyes and smiled at the thought of sushi for dinner. He was quite excited to come over; he knew this was a chance to break the ice with May and her parents.

He glanced over at Kylie who was still writing notes to people. There were several folded notes lying on top of her desk. Some of the notes were addressed to: Modest Mouse, Muffin Man, Shit Face, Mr. T, Pants on Fire, Angela and a doodle of Kenny from South Park. Brendan?s jaw immediately dropped and assumed that most of the notes were for the boys who sat at his lunch table. Kylie stopped writing and placed her pen in between the spine of her textbook. She took the note that was addressed to ?Modest Mouse? and threw it right onto Ben?s desk. ?Benny!? Kylie whispered as she turned around and called out his name. She smiled as Ben turned bright red the second it landed on his desk.

Mr. Dyer immediately turned around from the board and faced the students. The sound of students whispering amongst themselves broke the flow of his lecturing. He directed himself towards Kylie who was facing the opposite direction. ?What are you writing?? Mr. Dyer asked as he seen several pieces of paper stacked on her desk. ?Algebraic equations ands notes from the board,? she smiled sweetly. Mr. Dyer nodded and continued rambling on about the FOIL rule. The bell shortly followed several minutes after. Kylie took all her papers and notes and shoved it into her folder and textbook. ?Bye Muffin Man,? she said as she picked up all her belongings and walked out of the classroom. ?The Muffin Man?!? I?m the Muffin Man?? Brendan shouted in his head.

?Ding! Ding!? went the sound of the final bell ending class. Jason went straight to his locker and came back to his English class for his usual tutoring session with Ms. Beverly. ?Wow, you look hot again? Jason grinned. Ms. Beverly had already taken her hair down and applied makeup to her face shortly after Jason left for his locker. ?It?s time you learn about foreplay,? smiled Ms. Beverly. She wiggled her index finger, signaling Jason to come closer to her. Jason smiled and walked slowly towards Ms. Beverly. Suddenly an image of Brendan appeared in his head. ?Err, go ahead!? he shouted in his head; however, Brendan?s face did not disappear in his head. He knew it was a sign, a warning of danger; otherwise it was some strange feeling he didn?t appreciate having.

Ms. Beverly walked up to Jason and begun kissing him passionately. She started rubbing her warm hands all over his cold back Jason could smell her sweat with a combination of her perfume. ?Sweat? Is she nervous herself?? Jason asked himself. He started breathing heavily as his body was stimulated by her tongue in his mouth. She released her mouth from his and stared into his eyes, smiling at every move she made. Suddenly Jason felt her hand slide down his stomach and straight into his pants. ?Holy shit!? he exclaimed in his head.

Suddenly the sound of the doorknob broke the silence of their forbidden love. ?Oh my god, hide under my desk,? Ms. Beverly quickly whispered. She quickly went into a panicky frenzy and started buttoning up her shirt. Jason was just in complete shock. He just stood there while Ms. Beverly freaked out. ?Hurry!? she shouted silently. Jason quickly ran to her desk then slid into the chair opening. ?Ouch!? Jason whispered to himself as his head hit the surface of the desk. Finally the sound of the door opening finally came. ?Ahh? Cynthia there you are!? a man?s voice greeted her.

?Derek, how nice of you to come,? Ms. Beverly said politely to her boss, the principal of the school. ?You?re looking very nice today. What?s the occasion?? Mr. Weaver asked in a flirty tone. Jason covered his mouth; the thought of his principal flirting with Ms. Beverly grossed him out. ?Oh, nothing, I?m just heading to a little get together after school,? Ms. Beverly said, smiling right at him. ?Oh, ok. Well here?s your paycheck, we received them late, so it would have been in your mail box earlier, but you know the mailman can be slow sometimes.? ?Thanks,? Ms. Beverly said nodding to his statement. She slowly directed him towards the door as she could no longer stand flirting with a 47 year old man.

She closed the door and Jason crawled out from underneath the desk laughing at their little conversation. ?Yeah, sorry about that. We can?t keep having these sessions in my classroom. We are eventually going get caught having them. I suggest we arrange something outside the classroom,? Ms. Beverly suggested. ?Like at your house?? Jason asked nervously. ?I suppose so; well I suppose it?s arranged then.? She held up her personal agenda and searched for an available date. ?How about Thursday night?? she asked penciling in the date. ?Sounds good to me,? agreed Jason. Ms. Beverly gave him a friendly hug and Jason gathered his things from the corner of the room and headed out of the classroom. ?I love dating teachers,? he said to himself.

Meanwhile, Brendan was in May?s home sitting on her couch and doing his homework with her. The oriental decor, light oak floor, and the warm atmosphere made the house a more interesting learning environment. They continued working on their homework until May?s little sister, Takara interrupted them. ?Is this your boyfriend?? she asked like any typical 6th grader. ?No dating!? her mother shouted from the kitchen. Brendan quickly looked at May the second her mother said those words. ?Ignore them,? May advised him. Brendan nodded his head and continued working on his homework until the both of them had completed their assignment.

?Is that your iPod?? May curiously asked as Brendan slowly pulled it out of his pocket. ?Yeah, it is. Do you wanna listen to it?? Brendan said politely. ?Sure,? May said as Brendan handed her his iPod. She plugged the ear buds into her ears and immediately pressed the play button. The loud sound of screaming accompanied by loud guitar strings quickly entered her gentle ears. It was a sound of music she hadn?t heard before, combined with catchy male vocals along with hardcore screaming. After listening to about 15 seconds of this music, May hastily pulled the ear buds out of her ears and pressed the pause button. ?What the hell is this?? May asked, disgusted by what she heard. ?Oh my god!? exclaimed Brendan embarrassed by what he had on his iPod. ?Do you have something other than this?? May asked rudely as she began scrolling through the list of artists until she found one she liked.

?Am I more than you bargained for yet I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear Cause that's just who I am this week Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum? ?Fall Out Boy?? Brendan asked sarcastically. He immediately recognized the overplayed introduction to ?Sugar We?re Going Down.? ?Yeah, what?s wrong with Fall Out Boy?? May asked curiously as she continued listening to the song. ?Nothing?? Brendan said, as he looked away and stared directly at the kitchen. Suddenly the front door opened and May?s father greeted the family. Brendan felt a little shy; almost like hiding. He had no clue whether her father was the strict parent that Shanda warned him about.

?Oh good, you?re home,? May?s mother said as she kissed her husband on cheek. May immediately greeted her father and went into the kitchen to help her mother set the table. ?Hi, I?m May?s father. You should probably wash your hands now. I think dinner is ready now,? he said warmly as he greeted Brendan. ?Hi, I?m Brendan,? Brendan replied. Brendan smiled, as his fears of meeting the parents were quickly relieved. He walked into their bathroom and washed his hands thoroughly. He had no idea what was for dinner, he only hoped it was sushi, which he highly doubted. ?Hi,? Takara said, as she walked into the bathroom to wash her hands as well. ?Hello,? Brendan politely replied. He walked out of the bathroom and into the dining room; where he smelled the aroma of good food to soothe his soul. He sat down next to May, who surprisingly had no food on her plate.

?Why aren?t you guys eating yet?? Brendan asked as Takara sat down at the table. ?Oh, we say grace before we eat. Don?t you do that at home?? May replied. May?s mother immediately stared at Brendan, as her head filled with several questions she wanted to ask him. After saying grace, the plates were passed around the tables as rice and Filipino dishes were served onto their plates. ?Aw, this isn?t sushi,? Brendan thought to himself. He took his fork and started eating the rice along what looked like slices of chicken and another entree that tasted like soy sauced meat to him. ?So what ethnicity are you?? May?s mother asked as the rest of the family gave a blank stare. ?Well, my dad is Korean and my mom has a lot of English in her, but they divorced and they both got remarried.? Brendan said nervously; he didn?t like discussing that subject.

Brendan?s stomach instantly felt weak the second he heard the word `pig.? The food that tasted so good now tasted like cow manure to him. He could spot the grease and the oil sink at the bottom of the adobo pot and pieces of skin sit at the top of the lechon dish. He started coughing and slowly stood up from table. "Brendan, are you alright?? May asked, concerned.

?That?s why I only eat rice and soy sauce,? Takara added. ?Yeah, I?m fine it?s just that,? he said, pausing to think of a good excuse about why he was suddenly gagging. ?I?m allergic to pork products,? he said gulping down his water. ?Oh my god! Are you going to be okay?? Her mother quickly asked. ?I should be fine, as long as I don?t eat anymore,? Brendan said as he stopped coughing. ?I?m so sorry. I didn?t know. Why didn?t you ask ahead of time?? She said looking very worried and concerned. ?I?m sorry... It just all smelled good, I had to eat it,? Brendan responded comforting May?s mother. He continued on eating only the rice, while the rest of the family continued eating in silence.

After they were finished eating, May helped her mother put away the dishes and put the food in storage containers for leftovers. Brendan quietly sat on the couch feeling as guilty as ever, he should have eaten all of the food despite what it was. He lifted his feet and placed them on the couch as he rested his body with his hand his on stomach. ?I think I should drive you home now,? May?s father responded as Brendan lay on the couch. Brendan slowly gathered up his things and waved good-bye to May who was wiping the table clean. The guilt inside him quickly built up as he took several steps outside into May?s father car. ?I apologize for my wife. She?s so over protective of her daughters,? May?s father said as he got into his truck.

May?s mother was in tears as she took each dish and rinsed it out into the sink. She felt like the criminal who was sentenced to jail for poisoning someone. Each dish she washed, she felt the pain inside herself. She knew her daughter would no longer appreciate her after what happened. ?Why couldn?t you have made lumpia (egg rolls) or something?? May said as she threw the rag she used to wipe the table into the sink. ?I?m sorry, but I can?t allow you to date him now. I just can?t have him around after what I?ve done to him. I think you should allow me to finish cleaning up. Just go study for your classes,? May?s mother sniffed. ?Mom,? May said softly. Her mother looked away and motioned for May to leave her alone. May walked out the kitchen knowing that her relationship with Brendan was over and that the rest of her teenage years would be painful and slow.

So many of you are probably wondering what the food was from this episode. Here?s a quick description of the dishes:
Adobo: One of the most popular and most distinguished among all Filipino cuisines. A common dish in the Philippines is typically made from pork or chicken, slow-cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, crushed garlic, bay leaf, and black peppercorns. ~Wikipedia
