Every story has a beginning, but occasionally there are things that happen beforehand to set the story itself into motion. Our story begins with a small family living life quietly, but about to have everything turned upside down.
Actually, our story begins in April 2006 when I finally got a computer capable of playing Sims2, creating the addiction that's still going strong today. It also has a lot to do with the various stories and legacies I discovered shortly thereafter. If you need to blame anyone for this so-called-Legacy, blame me. Then blame the people who inspired me: Candi020765 with her astoundingly fun Uglacy and Prettyacy, Swiffner with her giggle inspiring Mythology Legacy, PeeWee5278 with the mass carnage of the Briggs Family Legacy, Belovedwagon and his sprawling and engrossing Legacy Du Jour, and so many others.
There's the ring, here's my hat.

Not so long ago, in the wilds of Pleasantview, the Legacina family lived in quiet solitude. Leiayar spent her days engrossed in her studies, trying to understand why their family line seemed to be dying out and the powerful magic of their ancestors had disappeared.
It was not so long ago that the elves were a great race; powerful, wise, majestic. It seemed that overnight their people disappeared and family lines quickly died out. To her knowledge, the Legacina family was the last of its kind, leaving her teenage son, Teylir as their only hope.

But not every member of the family was as concerned with such depressing thoughts.
Leiayar mused thoughtfully, "Perhaps the prophecy... Hmm? Kayendir what are.. why are you getting down on your knees?"
"I'm about to serenade my beautiful wife and distract her from being so morbid." Kayendir took little in life seriously but made it his life's imperative to keep a smile on Leiyar's face as often as possible.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine..."

"Oh Kay. *giggle* You're just too silly sometimes." Still, Leiayar couldn't help but grin.
"Come lovely wench, I know a secluded glade just over the hill where we can woohoo on a bed of wildflowers." Besides making her smile, Kayendir did have one other thing he liked to do as often as possible.
Grinning, Leiayar replied, "Do you ever think with your brain, Kay? First, I'd like to talk to Teylir. He's old enough now to know about the prophecy."
Sighing, Kayendir rolled his eyes, "Okay love. Then we find out how comfy those wildflowers are, right?"

Meanwhile, over at the house, Kayendir's father Aeric attempted to teach his grandson a few lessons in stragey and intelligent thinking.
"Granpa, this game SUCKS. You win every time and I just don't get it." Teylir was a typical teenager and whining was not unheard when he had to do something he didn't want.
"Patience boy. There's more to this game than winning." Aeric kept his voice patient though part of him really wanted to just strangle the kid.

"Why can't we just play with a Maxis Game Simulator like all the other kids?" All Teylir ever thought about was having friends, and living so far from the center of Pleasantview was a constant source of complaints from him.
"You can play your mindless electronic entertainments later, boy. For now, concentrate." Aeric gritted his teeth.
Under his breath, Teylir mumbled, "Doesn't have to be new to be mindless."
"What did you say?"
Suddenly a distraction presented itself as Leiayar called for her son.
"Mom's calling, gotta go!"

"Teylir, your father and I.. well, mostly I.. think you're old enough now to be told some very important things."
"Does this mean you're going to tell me about the prophecy, mom?"
Leiyar blinked, "Uh.. how do you know about that?"
Teylir grinned, "I may be a kid, but I'm not deaf, mom. I've heard you and Granpa talk about it. So is this like some grand destiny that I'm gonna have? Big adventures, slaying dragons, that type of stuff?"
Recovering from her surprise, Leiayar cleared her throat, "No dear, nothing so cinematic as that. The prophecy says that when there are but two of our kind left, one dark, one light, it will be time for the survivor to travel far and found a new line in the most humble of beginnings."
Screwing his face up with a look of confusion, Teylir asked, "That's it? That doesn't make any sense, mom. There's four of us left and none of us are dark. Well, 'cept maybe Granpa when he looks like he wants to strangle me."
Smiling, Leiyar said, "I don't know what it means either, dear."

After Leiayar left to go make up a picnic basket, Kayendir came up to his son, "Actually, there are five of us left."
"But dad, who's the fifth one? There's only you, me, mom and granps. I've never met anyone else like us."

"I have a sister. She'd be your Aunt Kirstial. She went a little nuts back before you were born."
"Whoa.. you mean I got a psycho relative? And you guys never told me?!"
"Heh. Actually, she and your mom used to study together, trying to find out why our people were fading. Kirstial said she made some sort of discovery, but she and your mom argued about it. Kirstial ended up leaving the next day."
"Is she dangerous, dad?"
"Nah. Why would she hurt her own family? She was just as determined as your mother to 'save' us. Me, I figure life's too short to worry about stuff like that."

Unfortunately, Kayendir was sometimes as naive as he was frivilous. That very evening, closer than he could imagine, Kirstial Legacina was finalizing a pact with dark entities.
Chanting in a strange language, she bargained away every last bit of her humanity.. er.. elfosity? Either way, when the pool ran red with blood, the time and transformation was upon her.

"MWA HA HA HA HA! I DID IT!"
"Immortality is mine! The power is mine! Those fools will pay now. Once and for all, the prophecy will be undone and the power will be mine and mine alone."
The sound of her maniacally cackling carried in the night.

That evening at the Legacina home, Leiayar was contemplating the night sky (after a very 'successful' testing of the wildflowers earlier that afternoon) when a most unexpected visitor appeared.
"Hello Leiayar." Kirstial drawled the words out, savoring the dark new powers coarsing through her.
"Who's there?!" Leiayar surged to her feet.
|

Created: 01.06.2007 - Updated: 01.06.2007
"K-K-Kirstial? Is.. is that you? Oh spirits, what has happened to you?" The shock was obvious in Leiayar's shaken voice.
"I told you this day would come, dear 'sister'. The prophecy needs to be broken and only in the alliance between the Legacina name and the dark powers would that happen. I hold the power of the undead in my veins. I am now immortal! MWAHAHAHA!"

"Oh Kirsti. What happened to the sweet girl you once were? We can fix this, I know we can. There must be a way to undo this .. this atrocity to you. I know! The gypsy. I can call the gypsy. She'll have a cure for you. We can fix this." Leiayar was overcome with grief at the sight of what her sister-in-law had become.

"FOOL! I didn't come here for your sympathy or your help!" Kirstial snarled the words through her fangs.
"But.. but Kirsti.." Leiayar began to grow scared.
Hissing, the vampire continued, "I *told* you, I have come to end the prophecy once and for all." Power began to build up within her and she reached out to touch the other woman, "And that requires your death, 'beloved' sister."

At first nothing happened. Leiayar turned away and raised her eyes to the sky beseeching the powers that be. "How could this have happened? What happened to the Kirstial we once knew?"
A buzzing noise began in her ears, slowly at first.

Then before she coudl realize what was really happening, a swarm of dark insects began to appear and swirl around her. Kirstial began to laugh, giddy at the sight of her miniscule minions doing her bidding.
It was not a pretty sight, but it was over quickly for poor Leiayar, who to the very last did not believe Kirstial capable of such treachery.

Rushing out of the house at the sound of his wife's dying screams, Kayendir ran over, "Leiayar! What's wrong... oh.. oh no... What.. Kirstial is that you??"
"She's dead brother! The witch you married is no more!"

Dispair claimed the usually happy-go-lucky man, "My Leia... my sweet, serious Leia.." Burying his face in his hands, he began to weep.
"Oh puhleeese." Kirstial rolled her eyes as she watched her brother break down.

"You make me sick, Kay. Spoiled, happy, fun Kay. You always got your way." Kirstial's voice began to grow more shrill, "ALWAYS. Mom always did like you best. Now I'm the special one! Now I'm the one they'll all care about!"
Oblivious to her rantings, he just sobbed, "Oh Leia.."

Just as Aeric came out of the house to see what was wrong, Kirstial took a dagger and plunged it into her brother's back. A more mundane death, perhaps, but killing him just as surely as her magic had killed Leiayar.
|

Aeric stood there shocked for a moment before he realized what he was seeing, "Kirstial.. is that you? What have you done, girl?"
Laughing, Kirstial turned a bright smile upon her bewildered father, "I've ended their sickening simpering, father. No more music from the love birds, and no chance for a Legacina heir."
|
| |

Reaching out to her father for a hug, Kirstial gave a smile that was an echo of the girl she once was, "I've come home, father."
Still in shock, Aeric backed away, "You're not the daughter I once knew. She would have never harmed her brother or her friend."
|

The rejection of her father's love hit Kirstial hard, and for a moment she was the girl she once was. "But.. but daddy..."
That moment allowed Aeric to collect himself and realize what must be done.

Though the magic of their people had faded greatly, he was a wise old man and had a few tricks up his sleeve. Before Kirstial could recover, he rushed over and quickly cast a spell on her to incapacitate her for as long as possible.
When she was out, he called out for his grandson, "Teylir, come here! Come quick, boy!"

Rushing out of the house, Teylir's eyes widened when he saw the unconscious vampire on the ground, "Who's that, granpa? And where are mom and dad?" Skirting around her, he made his way to Aeric's side.

"There's no time, Teylir. You must listen to me and do what I say. Your parents have been murdered by our own flesh and blood. Your aunt Kirstial has returned and is not the woman we once knew. She is bent on destroying our family."
"She murdered your parents, Teylir. They're dead."
|

"M.mom? D.dad? They.. they're d.d.dead?" Teylir could barely hear what his grandfather was saying as the reality of the words began to sink in.
Grief threatened to overwhelm Aeric as well, but he took a deep breath and steeled himself, "Listen to me, Teylir. They're gone, but we can still save you. Kirstial doesn't know about you. You must run far far away. Hide until daylight, then come back. You know where I have some simoleons stored. Take them and get as far away as you can."
"Prove her wrong. Start the family again. Found the Legacina Legacy and bring pride back to our family line."
"But.. but what about you, Granpa? Aren't you coming with me?" Teylir sniffled.
"She can find me, Teylir. You go. I'll be fine." Aeric lied.

Numb with grief, Teylir obeyed his grandfather and ran to hide until daylight.

It was not a moment too soon, because Aeric's magic wore off and Kirstial revived herself.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME, OLD MAN!?" She snarled and moved over to him with the dark magic crackling around her.
"The Kirstial that was my daughter is as dead as my son and daughter-in-law. You are not my child." Aeric knew what was sure to come next.
|
| |
Created: 01.06.2007 - Updated: 01.06.2007
Hissing, she unleashed her power upon him, "Fool! I would have let you live, father. But no... you turn my charity aside, just as you turned away my love when I was a child."
The energy consumed him quickly, leaving not even a time for a scream.

With the three dead, Kirstial waited for a moment and then the Grim Reaper appeared. "There. You have what you wanted. The blood of my family is spilled and their souls are yours now."
The Reaper looked down at Aeric's body and hmmmed softly in his unearthly voice, "Aeric Legacina. Kayendir Legacina. Leiayar Legacina. Yes, you have spilled your family blood. But this is not all of it. The freshest is missing."
"WHAT!?" Kirstial's eyes filled with rage, "How can that be?"
"Did your father never explain the birds and the bees? Is that why you hated him?" The Reaper gave an uncharacteristic snicker, "Your brother and his wife got busy more than once. Are you so surprised they had a child?"
"GRAAAAAAAAAAR! Where is it! Where!"
Dawn was coming soon, though, and she needed to flee back to her lair.

The next morning, Teylir came out of hiding and saw to burying his family. He knew his grandfather would want him to run as quickly as possible, but Teylir needed to see to this first. He chose the spot that his mother often came to contemplate the mysterious she so loved. When he was done, he let his grief come to the surface.

Anger quickly replaced grief and he swore to his parents' tombstones, "I'll do it. I'll found the legacy and bring the power and honor back to our line. Just to spite her, I will do it!" And with that, he gathered his things and left the woods of Pleasantview behind him forever.

"This is so not fair!"
Throwing a tantrum in her living room, Kirstial monologues to the fireplace, "I should have known they had a child! How could I be so stupid! GRAAAH!" Seething with anger, she paced the floor, "I'll find him, her, it, whatever and kill them dead!"
"However long it takes... I'll find them and make them pay."
