This story is a tutorial using SimPE, which is avaliable at:
http://sims.abertation.de
Ever had sims born in game that you'd like to use in BodyShop, or upload to the Exchange? Think that a Maxis made sim would be a good base for your own sims? Then look no further! This tutorial shows you exactly how to extract sims from game, and save them to your SavedSims folder, allowing for future use in Bodyshop.

Go to:
My Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Neighbourhoods

Choose the neighbourhood which the sim is in...
F001 - Desiderata Valley (FreeTime) G001 - Riverblossom Hills (Seasons) N001 - Pleasantview N002 - Strangetown N003 - Veronaville
If you have any custom hoods, they are likely to follow the pattern of N004, N005 etc. They are the same order as in game.

I'm using Pleasantview in this tutorial, so my prefix is N001. I'll therefore open the file N001_Neighbourhood - but you choose your own neighbourhood prefix.

Once the neighbourhood file has finished loading, go to:
Tools > Neighbourhood > Sims Surgery

After Sims Surgery has loaded, you'll see a list of pictures along the left hand side. These are the sims that are in the neighbourhood; they're listed in alphabetical order by first name.
I'm using Lucy Burb in my example. Click on the picture of the sim.

Then click on "Use". Your sim's picture will now appear in a second box.

Just above your sims picture, and slightly to the right, you'll notice a link named "Export". Click on this.

A pop-up will come up to save your sim to your SavedSims folder (this is the folder where all sims, clothing items, genetics and so on get saved when you make them in Body Shop).

You can change the name to whatever you want - I've named the file LucyBurb, because I used the sim named Lucy Burb.
Click Save, and you're done! You can then close SimPE, load up BodyShop, and your sim will be in there waiting for you!
If you have any more questions, or feel that something needs extra explaining, feel free to sign my guestbook!
Happy Simming!
