First lets make sure we have all the ingredients needed to make Grandma's Banana Pudding.
1 1/2 to 2 cups of sugar 1/2 to 3/4 cups of flour (more if needed to thicken) 4 to 6 egg yolks 4 to 6 egg whites and 1 tsp sugar (for topping) 3 to 4 cups milk 1 to 2 tsp vanilla flavoring 5-6 bananas, sliced vanilla wafers

Mix the flour and sugar together, and then stir in the milk, mixing well. Cook on the stovetop stirring often so the mixture doesn't stick or burn. Beat the egg yolks and add to the mixture on the stove. Cook until its as thick as you desire. Remove from stove and add the vanilla flavoring.

In an oven safe bowl or pan, layer vanilla wafers, pudding, and the cut bananas. Continue with layers until bowl or pan is full. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Add 1 tsp of sugar to the whites and beat a few seconds more.

Put the topping on the pudding and brown in the oven at 350 degrees. Shouldn't take but a few minutes, make sure you keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.
