"Sisters" Part One
This is my first (story) upload to the exchange, so please be kind. I hope that everyone enjoys reading my story and please feel free to leave me a comment in my guestbook.
~*~Special Note:~*~ Jason was made by a very talented member on the MTS2 website and Katie was Kyler, the Get Skintight's Top Model.

I'm 35 years old, single and living with my younger sister; I know...I am pathetic. I don't choose to date losers and commitment phobes they just happen to find me. I want to get married and start a family (and finally make my mother happy), but those are not priorities in my life, right now.

Katie, my younger sister, is different then me, she's been dating the same handsome, charismatic man for the past six months and has all ready begun picking out china patterns.
I keep warning her about the dangers of falling in love, but she is determined to walk down the aisle before her 30th birthday. Honestly, I cannot believe how different we truly are.

Katie was born to be a wife and mother. She spent her childhood nurturing her dolls, feeding them, bathing them and putting them to sleep.

Me, I tucked myself into a corner and wrote. All day long, I would fill notebooks with my thoughts. Mother worried that I would never have any friends or a boyfriend; she was right.
I had very few friends during high school; whereas, Katie was never alone. She had more friends then I could count on two hands. I was jealous of her and her many suitors, so I threw myself further into my writing.
My writing was my escape, there I could be a princess or an athlete; I was free to be anyone, except myself. All my hard work did pay off; I ended up getting a writing scholarship to NYU and graduated with a degree in journalism. I even had a boyfriend at college. He wasn't your typical frat boy either; he was a mature and gifted professor.

So, how did I end up here, single and living with my younger sister? Well, long story short, my dream professor had a lovely, jealous wife, who also happened to be an editor for one of the largest papers in New York. She wasn't too happy that her husband was having relations with an ex-student, so to teach me a lesson, she blackballed me. I couldn't find a job anywhere. I was forced to move back to Ashbrook and live with Katie.
I'm trying desperately to jump start my writing career, but so far, I've encountered nothing but rejection. Katie keeps telling me that all I need is a man. I just can't see myself falling in love wiht anyone, ever again. (My heart was broken once and I don't want to relive that feeling.)
So, why am I telling everyone in Ashbrook about my problems? Well, I was taught to write about what I know and what I know is heart break and failure...

Sophie sat at her desk and starred at the blinking cursor, "garbage," she thought to herself angerily, "pure self-depreciating dribble, no editor would ever hire me if I handed this to them."
It was getting late and Sophie's head was pounding, but she refused to turn in, until she had a quality article written. "I'm gonna be here all night," she mumbled, starring at the clock.

"I love you more," Jason whispered softly.
"Who said that," Sophie called, into the darkness.
"Shh...I told you she would still be awake," Katie admonished, as she opened the front door. "Sophie, I'm sorry, did we wake you."
"No, of course not, I was busy trying to write a quality article before bed," Sophie said, watching Katie and Jason enter the living room. "How was the movie?"

"It was fantastic," Katie gushed. "It was the most romantic movie and ended so sweetly, don't you agree, honey?"
"Jason rolled his eyes and plastered a fake smile on face, "Oh yeah, it was terrific."
"See, I knew you would love it," Katie said, kissing Jason on the cheek. "I'm glad I was able to talk you out of seeing that new Adam Sandler movie. That movie would have been such a pointless way to spend an evening."

"The new Adam Sandler movie is out," Sophie exclaimed. "I really wanted to see that."
"Really," Jason and Katie said together.
"Of course, I think he is a comedic genius."
"Oh man," Jason said smiling, "I totally agree. Do you remember some of the skits he did on SNL; pure genius."

"Oh, I totally agree with you," Sophie said, sitting up straighter. "What is your favorite movie?"
"Before you answer that," Katie interrupted, "I must say goodnight. I need my beauty rest, after all."

"You are all ready perfect," Jason said, softly kissing Katie's lips.
"Well thank you, but I still need my sleep."
"All right," Jason said. "I'll talk to you tomorrow afternoon."
"Of course, we can meet up for lunch."
"Sounds good, hun. Love you."
"Love you, too," Katie purred. "Night."

"Good night, sweetie. Night Sophie," Jason said, turning towards Sophie.
"Night," Sophie responded curtly.
Jason closed the door and Katie turned towards Sophie, "Isn't he just perfect."

"He seems like a good guy," Sophie said skeptically.
"He is a good guy," Katie said, with an edge in her voice. "Not all guys are cheating scum, Sophie. Some are happy to settle down and start a family."
"I'm sure your right," Sophie said apologetically. "Jason is a great guy and I'm happy for you."

"Thanks," Katie said, placing her foot on the bottom stair. "Good night, Sophie. Don't stay up too late."
"I won't," Sophie yawned. "Night."
