A Notice About Modified Content / Hacked Objects On The Exchange

Our community continually surprises us by their creativity and dedication to pushing the game's limits further then we ever dreamed possible! Some users have demonstrated this innovation by modifying objects on lots that are added to our exchange each day. In some of these lots there may be pieces of content or modifications that a user finds undesirable to their game play. For this reason, we want to warn you if a lot contains any modified content, and leave it up to you whether or not to download it.

To see what's contained on a Lot, go to a Lot's details page. If a Lot has anything on it that is NOT Maxis created, including Skins, there will be a warning image that appears next to the download link .
Look under the parts tab in the detail information section . You will see a list of usernames, part types, part names, and a corresponding unique CRC number for each part.

If a modification has been made on a Lot and the part type displayed is an object, object part, or designMode resource that is not made by the username MaxoidMonkey, then you should download it with caution. The download may or may not change your gameplay in a way you do not wish it to.

If you believe that you have downloaded a lot that has been modified and it is adversely affecting your game, you can remove the modified part. Do the following:
  1. Go to your "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads" folder
  2. Find the package name that corresponds to the part CRC you do not want
  3. Delete the part

The next time you run The Sims 2, it should be functioning normally.
